Wakendaw Lakes is actually a series of four separate developments: Wakendaw Lakes, Wakendaw Manor, Wakendaw-on-the-Creek, and Wakendaw East located off Mathis Ferry Road in Mount Pleasant. There is a wide variety of properties in Wakendaw Lakes, with several deepwater lots, waterfront, marshfront and marshview, and lakefront properties.
The Wakendaw Corporation started the first of seven phases of the Wakendaw Lakes section in 1968. The final phase of Wakendaw Lakes was finished in 1984.
Wakendaw Manor was started in 1978 with the houses on Manor Lane. There is a boat ramp and dock that is shared by all Wakendaw Manor residents and several of the homes have their own docks.
Wakendaw East was started about the time that Wakendaw Lakes was finishing up in 1984. This was developed in two phases. Properties in Wakendaw East include those on Serotina Court, Detyens Court and Detyens Road.
Wakendaw-on-the-Creek was started while Wakendaw East was still being developed in 1985. Wakendaw-on-the-Creek still has several undeveloped lots.
